Consists of 215 rooms and structured in five floors, this Amsterdam’s luxurious hotel presents attractive artistic and colorful interiors. There is a variety of furnishings that decorate its cheerful interior decoration including the Marshmallow, the new vegetal chairs, child-size Panton chairs, the Porcupine, and cute plywood. The decoration and furnishing may come from many different designers but they all as if unite to support its artistic and colorful nuance.

Formerly, this mansion is a typical ‘mansion’ apartment on the outskirts of Tokyo before BAKOKO transformed it into their new clean and bright home. It is architects Alastair Townsend and Kayoko Ohtsuki, two graduates of London’s Architectural Association (the AA), and the founders of BAKOKO Design Company who had transformed this small 400 square feet mansion into a modern-minimalist flat with optimum use of the spaces. Long ago, ‘Man-shi-yon’ was a euphemism the Japanese used to describe the generic concrete apartment blocks. Now, the culture seems to be moving into more sustainable creativity with preferences for clean and modern living spaces.

Twenty one guest suites cascade down the slope from the Main Lodge, with access from a Breezeway ramp. The Lodge is independent of mains services: rainwater is collected, electricity is generated on site and waste water is treated by a unique organic waste treatment system.

The world’s first floating apartment complex, The Citadel, makes it possible to live on water and tap into it for energy as well.Instead of expensive means to contain tides and prevent water from flooding the low-lying areas, Koen is working on completely different approach – floating housing complexes.
