The restoration of the old Palais Provincial Brabant is a continuation of the historic building from the 17th century to early 20th centuries, has undergone changes of quantities, each witness the architectural context of their period of construction. The project proposes to enhance the part neo-classical to the most recent installation of the main element of the program: the Chamber. It is made of glass and steel, materials and simple in appearance slightly, chosen to symbolize the openness and transparency in the Brussels Parliament to the company he manages. He wants to be a new expression of democracy, to afford the city and at the same time, be at literally and figuratively, the reflection of it.
The institution demonstrates to the city, while keeping an eye on it through carefully framed views, particularly wall-object pear facing the city, symbolic representation of the Chamber.
The new package is positioned away from the streets to maintain the readability of the original building and to allow a reading different styles of progressive component.
The new architecture enters a harmonious dialogue with its base visual and structural.
The interior is completely renovated to provide, firstly, the creation of committee rooms, meeting in the new wing open to the public and, secondly, the installation of Administrative Services, Registry and offices Parliamentarians (12.000m2). The semicircle in the existing building is converted into a reading room and cafeteria for parliamentarians, real decision-making center of this institution. Finally, 11 artists involved in different areas of the building to express to turn their perception of Brussels, democracy and the parliament.
